On November 19 and 20 2024, the Center of Sociological Research (CIS) welcomed Emeritus Professor of the University of Barcelona, Ramón Flecha, who delivered a lecture on the Scientific Citizens Movement. This event brought together a selection of the top social scientists and some natural scientists in Spain, who showed great enthusiasm and consensus regarding the concept presented.

Flecha´s lecture focused on the importance of involving citizens in scientific research, highlighting how this approach co-created by him (which is now a requirement of the European Commission) is generating a significant impact on society.

Professor Flecha is the most cited researcher on Google Scholar in the social impact category, a result of his research on this topic. His lecture at the CIS not only reaffirmed his leadership in the field but also inspired the scientific community to continue working in collaboration with citizens to achieve positive change.
